Background
Fanatics, Inc. is a major online retailer of sportswear, sports equipment, merchandize and memorabilia. In 2016, Fanatics undertook a significant initiative to modernize its supply chain technology by moving all business-critical applications to the cloud, all while undergoing extreme growth to the point of doubling its revenue by 2020
Project Background:
- Fanatics has to expand its fulfillment capabilities and strategies in the USA to meet its customer expectations and SLAs during Peak and Non-Peak periods.
- The customer has decided to build a modern and heavily automated greenfield facility in Las Vegas with the goal of processing 100000 orders per day.
- The customer engaged ITOrizon as their strategic Supply Chain System Integrator partner with a mission to collaborate with their Operations and IT to assess, design, implement and improve their engineering, supply chain, and IT processes working closely with software vendors, hardware vendors, and engineering firms.
- ITOrizon designed the west coast facility operations using Manhattan Warehouse Management System. In addition, integrated MA WMS got integrated with the WCS system CORS (Compass Order Routing System), Unit Sorter, Put to Light (PTL), Auto Bagger, Print & Apply, and a Shipping Sorter.
ITOrizon Solution:
- ITOrizon team took full ownership of being onsite, driving the solution design discussions across all the systems, and validating the approaches.
- ITOrizon team took the lead in documenting all the business requirements for the entire program
- Analyze cuts and cancels across order capturing to order fulfillment and take necessary steps to decrease them.
- Implement best practices in managing the inventory, processes, totes, and fulfillment across WMS and MHE systems to increase operational efficiency.
- Design MHE flows and configuration setups across pick zones, sort zones, chutes, PTL lanes, and PTL cubbies to handle sortable, non-sortable, singles, and multis for the peak demand and non-peak demand.
- Avoided rigid design and configurations in WMS and take advantage of the MHE and WCS flexibilities.
- An optimal design to manage WMS Pick waves, WMS Pack waves, and WCS Pack Batches got accomplished through configurations.
- Design Sorters to operate as a multi-purpose sorter to handle both Inbound and Outbound sortation.
- Implement new solutions for the resolution area to manage problem totes and partially filled orders.
Outcome:
- Improved sales, On-time and Full, Inventory Accuracy, and Pick Accuracy
- Increase in throughput and decrease in operations cost
