Leverage Entity Extension Feature to integrate Facility Attributes:
Our client faced a challenge wherein specific attributes from the Facility entity needed to be integrated into the order selection criteria during the wave process in Manhattan Active. The existing OPS rules in the base product, designed for the Order entity, deserted these crucial facility-specific details essential for effective decision-making. To resolve this, our team leveraged Manhattan ProActive’s Entity extension framework and User extensions. We added custom attributes to the Order entity, enabling the system to capture vital facility information. Automated scripts were developed to ensure real-time synchronization, copying relevant attribute values from the Facility entity to the Order entity whenever new orders were ingested. This integration empowered OPS rules to consider facility-specific data, leading to optimized order assignments, and improved production efficiency and customer satisfaction.

Leverage Backend Extension Feature to Format JSON Messages:
Client’s internal system generated JSON messages, while an external Material Handling Equipment (MHE) system demanded specific delimiters for accurate interpretation. Our solution involved intercepting JSON messages from the Manhattan system and transforming them into the necessary delimited format for the MHE system. Specialized message subscribers captured JSON messages, which were routed to intermediary queues using custom transport configurations. Within these queues, custom backend extension frameworks from Manhattan ProActive were applied, enriching and transforming the JSON messages into the required format specified by the MHE system. Enabling this transformation ensured seamless communication between the Manhattan and MHE systems, enhancing operational efficiency by reducing processing time and minimizing the risk of data misinterpretation.

The challenge faced by the client was to ensure strict adherence to the correct process by operators when dealing with Problem Pallet Location barcodes to maintain data integrity and operational efficiency. Accidental exits from the barcode screen without scanning a valid barcode needed prevention, requiring the disabling of the back button functionality on the mobile UI screen. The ITOrizon team addressed this challenge by developing a customized UI extension pack tailored to the client’s existing mobile workflow screens. The back button was disabled on the Problem Pallet Location barcode screen, compelling operators to follow the mandated process. This modification ensured that operators could not exit the screen without scanning the designated barcode, enforcing the necessary operational protocol.
